Favorite Exercises
You can save your favorite exercises so that you can track them easily on the fly. This function works similarly to the favorite food function that you see under the nutrition tab on the navigation bar.
To favorite an exercise, go the the exercise search page. You can find exercises by drilling down into the exercise categories on the left sidebar. If you would like to find a compound exercise (multi-joint movements that work several muscles at one time), make sure you check all muscle groups involved in the exercise for more accurate search results.
To access your favorite exercises, go to My Favorite Exercises on the Workouts drop menu.
Public Exercise Database
You now have the ability to create custom exercises and submit them to the public exercise database. To create a custom exercise, go to Create New Exercise on the Workouts drop menu. Fill in all relevant information, including name and description (step 1) . To learn how to create an optimal exercise description, click the blue link below the description text box.
In step 2, you have the option to add the new exercise to your favorites, and/or submit the exercise for review by the DB team, who will add it to the public database if it meets the following requirements:
- Must include description that adheres to the exercise description guidelines.
- Must include photo that clearly shows the exercise being properly performed with all necessary equipment.
- Must NOT include links or references to a third-party company or content provider.
- Must have exercise Categories set properly and comprehensively.
NOTE: DailyBurn reserves the right to modify any exercise entry prior to or after publishing in the public database.
Make sure to select the appropriate tags for your exercise on the right so that users can find your exercise easily.
Common Questions:
Q: How can I create a custom workout? I liked doing that, and my exercise program depends upon it.
A: We did not get rid of custom workouts, we just made it easier for your to do so. Just search for an exercise, and click “Add to a Routine” button. Routine is the term that we are using synonymously with workouts now. If you need to add the exercise to a routine (i.e. custom workout), you can do that by naming the new routine and clicking “Create New Routine” in the popup box.
Q: Why did you change everything in the first place?
A: There were two major thoughts that factored into this decision. First, we wanted to create an easy way for users to add exercises to the public database rather than have our team dream up all of the exercises that should be added to the database. We have had a ton of success with our user generated food database, and we thought that a user generated exercise would be just as successful. Second, we wanted to have the workouts function of the site look and feel more similar to the nutrition function of the site.
Q: Why didn’t you add my exercise to the database?
A: If we decide not to add you exercise to the database, we will always give you a reason. You may resubmit the exercise if we feel that it needs editing, or we may edit it ourselves. Even if your exercise is not chosen for the public database, you will still have access to it yourself.
If you have any questions about these new features, feel free to catch up with us in the support section of our site.
Cheers!
